Dr. Farooq Ahmed Masoodi is currently heading the Department of Food Science & Technology at University of Kashmir. He received his doctorate from G. B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, India. He obtained his masters in Food Science & Technology from Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana, India.

Prof. F. A. Masoodi has a basic degree in Agricultural Sciences. He has lectured in many reputed institutions/universities of India like Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, AMU Aligrah, Pondicherry University. He has worked as a regular faculty member in some reputed institutions of India. Dr. F.A. Masoodi played a pioneering role in establishing the Department of Food Science & Technology at University of Kashmir. Prof. Masoodi is currently on the expert panel of eight national level committees which play an important role in formulating the policies of various research institutions like National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) Karnal, India besides being a member of various academic bodies of universities all over India.

He has authored about 130 research papers in reputed journals and three book chapters. Prof. Masoodi has been on the editorial board of some journals besides being a reviewer of many others. He has developed a strong linkage with food processing industry in the region and created opportunities for students/scholars to work in industry during the course of their study.
